How to Make a Purifying Bentonite Clay Face Mask

You can treat yourself to a spa day in your home with this DIY recipe for rejuvenated, clear, healthy skin! There are many kinds of clay used in facial treatments that all have their own unique qualities, but my personal favorite is bentonite clay.

About Bentonite Clay

This clay has a powerful electrical charge that will absorb toxins, impurities, heavy metals, and other contaminants into it’s center. Therefore it is very cleansing when used as a face mask, poultice, or in a bath.

Make Your Mask!!

What you need:

  • 1 tablespoon bentonite clay (I got mine from Mama Jeans. It is available at most health food stores and online.)
  • 1 teaspoon oatmeal (I ground mine up in the grain mill first, but it’s not necessary)
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar  (For extreme cleansing power!)

Now you stir it up and mix it well until you get a nice smooth consistency. You may need to add a little more water since the oatmeal tends to absorb a lot. Apply the mixture to your face in a nice, thin coat and let it fully dry (usually takes 10 minutes or so). Your face will feel tight and you may experience a stinging – that means it’s working! Once it has dried wet a wash cloth with warm water and lay it on your face for a few seconds, then gently wipe the mask off of your face.

Note – You may experience redness after removing the face mask. This is totally normal, so don’t be alarmed. It should disappear within 30 minutes. 🙂

You are beautiful! Enjoy.
